The Big Saturday Multiple: Spireites look a cracking bet this weekend

Luis Boa Morte will soon be strutting his stuff in a Chesterfield shirt

Edgar Davids, Luis Boa Morte, Collins John; they all get a mention in Jonno Turner's... err... League One/Two Big Saturday Multiple this week...

We're off to North Derbyshire for our first pick of this three team multiple - and Chesterfield welcome struggling Dagenham and Redbridge to the Proact Stadium, looking to build on their excellent 1-0 win away at Aldershot last weekend.

The Spireites have steadily improved under caretaker Tommy Wright following a miserable start to the season which saw ex boss John Sheridan removed from his post.

The hosts have lost just one of their last 10 league outings, and Wright certainly deserves credit for steadying the ship, but he will be desperate for his side to show a little bit more quality now in order to turn these draws into wins.

A league position of 13th belies the home sides recent form, but that victory in Hampshire on Saturday will certainly have lifted confidence in the home camp, and the Spireites boss has bolstered his squad even further with the impressive signing of ex-Premiership star and Portuguese international Luis Boa Morte this week.

The winger isn't 100% match fit, but is expected to feature in this game - and the big name signing has created quite the buzz about the town.

Chesterfield have lost just one of their last 12 League Two games on their own patch - winning eight of those, and the stadium is quickly garnering a repuatition as something of a fortress.

Dagenham travel north without a win in eight on the road, and that poor form has played a key part in their disappointing position of 18th in League Two.

The visitors are just three points outside the dropzone, and a couple of losses could see them get sucked right into the relegation places, at this early stage of the season.

What will be more worrying for Daggers boss John Still will be his sides leaky defence - and they have conceded eight goals in their last four away from Victoria Road.

A win here could lift the home side right up towards the play-off positions - and I think it's cracking value, at 1.855/6.

Chesterfield have scored the first goal in four of their last five home games, and Wright will be keen for his side to come flying out of the traps this weekend. Chesterfield/Chesterfield on the HT/FT market is 2.89/5, and I think that's a decent back, too.

Bet 1: Chesterfield @ 1.855/6

Over to South Yorkshire now, and in-form Sheffield United host Oldham Athletic at Bramall Lane, as the Blades try to turn up the pressure on the top two.

Danny Wilson's side are third in League One, and have been picking up some decent results of late - but are six points behind Tranmere Rovers in top spot, and will be desperate not to lose touch with the leaders.

And the hosts go into this one looking to make it 12 games unbeaten, and three consecutive wins in the league.

The home side have not lost at home in the league this campaign, but three draws of late will not have been good enough for the Bramall Lane faithful, and the Wilson will be hoping that his charges can get back to winning ways here.

Seven goals in their last four outings on their own patch shows that the hosts have more than enough quality to match their guests today, and visiting boss Paul Dickov will not fancy this trip to a United side full of momentum.

The visitors have lost three of their last five away from Boundary Park, and will be keen for a change in results in order to improve upon their current league position of 16th.

The Latics have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven, and that suggests that they are unlikely to be able to hold off the United onslaught for a full 90 minutes here.

I fancy a 2-1 home win here, and that's available at odds of 6.75n/a.

Bet 2: Sheffield United @ 1.68/13

Back to the basement league for our final pick, and Barnet welcome Plymouth to Underhill, looking for their first win of the new campaign.

The Bees have struggled so far this season, and currently sit bottom of the table with just three points to their name - but performances recently have been encouraging, and I think that we could see them break their duck very soon.

The signing of ex-Premiership player Collins John looks to be a real coup for the hosts, and he looks set to make his debut in this game following international clearance.

That will be a major boost for the Bees, who have been lacking in the final third in recent weeks. Draws against Rotherham and Southend, and narrow defeats to Fleetwood and Exeter, show that the hosts do have potential to compete with the more fancied sides in this division, and I think that with the extra quality and impetus up front, we could see their luck change.

Edgar Davids was recently appointed first team coach down at Underhill, and he has suggested that he is looking to resurrect his playing career in North London. It remains to be seen whether the ex-Dutch international can get back to match fitness, but the appointment has certainly created a buzz around the area, and his unveiling tomorrow will ensure a bumper crowd in Hertfordshire.

Plymouth travel to their hosts having won just one of their last seven league outings - and boss Carl Fletcher will be keen for his side to put that right at the leagues bottom side this weekend.

But five without a win from their last half a dozen away from Home Park suggests that the Pilgrims may struggle as they prepare to face a Barnet side desperate to pick up that elusive first win of the season.

And a loss to AFC Wimbledon in their last league game will not have helped confidence in the South West, as Plymouth aim to avoid another season of struggle like last year - when they finished 21st in the fourth tier.

Bet 3: Barnet @ 2.55n/a

*The Fixed Odds Multiple pays approximately 7.613/2
