Sky Dogs: Magnificent Mags to be the best of All England

"Mags Gamble has proved one of the most progressive dogs of the season and his excellent recent record over the CD makes him a more than viable alternative to short priced favourite Bubbly Phoenix"

Bubbly Phoenix, fresh from winning the East Anglian Derby, will be a short price to follow up in the All England Cup final at Newcastle on Wednesday evening - live on Sky Sports - but with little value to be had about Paul Young's charge, our resident tipping guru Darrell Williams recommends a wager on red hot local star Mags Gamble, who bids for a remarkable eighth win in her last nine starts over the CD.

21:45 All England Cup

T1 SkywalkerLouie
Steel City Cup winner has won eleven of his last nineteen races. Has been given plenty of match practice having run his last five races over CD, with his semi-final run his best effort so far. More improvement required, but a lively outsider granted the red jacket.

T2 Whittle Murtagh
Has run only in competitions so far impressively reaching the finals in all four events he has contested (the other three restricted to puppies). Slightly disappointing after such a good break latest and would need a personal best to win this.

T3 Tudor Prince
Regular big race finalist for the past two seasons and runner-up in this event last year. Boasts an excellent record over this CD (eight wins from fourteen races). Middle draw not an issue and will have his supporters at big odds.

T4 Mags Gamble
One of the most progressive dogs anywhere this year winning the Monmore Gold Cup in August, but reserves his best form for this CD with seven wins in his last eight. Can claim the early speed and draw to gain an initial advantage and not unrealistic he could stay there.

T5 Denwill Star
Capable of very fast starts at his best, but while he continues to be under-estimated would never a flier given his tough draw between two overall faster rivals.

T6 Bubbly Phoenix
Unbeaten in six races since his return including the East Anglian Derby final last month. A truly class act and the one to beat especially given his status as the lone wide runner, but offers little value in such a hot heat.

Verdict
Bubbly Phoenix could hardly have returned in better form with an unbroken sequence of six wins through this event and the East Anglian Derby. His status as the sole wide runner should ensure him a clear run, and he looks sure to go close, but his odds offer little value. Mags Gamble has proved one of the most progressive dogs of the season and his excellent recent record over the CD makes him a more than viable alternative. A draw inside equally fast starting rival Denwill Star should be enough to secure him an early advantage and having clocked faster times than 'Phoenix' in both rounds so far, he may prove too quick.

Boher Paddy remains a class act and looks well drawn inside middle favouring Pennys Stinger. Manilla Flash lacks consistency but is more than capable at this level.

20:00 Sprint
A belter of a race. Drumsna Major could hardly have adjusted to sprinting any better and won well here last month, but Jumeirah Dubai is a prolific winner (eight from eleven in sprints) and gets a narrow vote. Classy Drumcove Lad hasn't been round here, but is obviously respected. Lil Risky is on a losing run of five.

20:15 480m
Lemon Velvet confirmed her useful Irish form when beating Droopys Hope here last month and while it should be closer with her rival's preference for trap one, she can repeat the feat.

20:35 670m
Lookoutforflash ran well when stepped up to this trip last week and can confirm the promise. Mill Whiskers is better than some of his recent form suggests and is respected.

20:50 Angel Of the North final
Brunswick Jenny can make it five wins in her last six over CD and rates one of the night's best bets. Speedy Bansha Mo oozes class, but may not be able to match the stamina of her rival.

21:10 Great North Run
Welton Arthur is unbeaten in his last three starts, all over CD, which includes the track-record and should prove hard to beat. Five-timer chasing Ballyard Buddy is well drawn and is fully respected.

21:25 Northern Puppy Derby
A wide-open final with none of the runners having reached the final unbeaten and two yet to win in the event. Killieford Deal beat Lemon Pluto in the first round, but the latter comprehensively reversed the form in the semi-finals and his early pace makes him the one to beat, especially as Killieford Deal may require luck in running with faster starting Express Flame on his immediate inside. Jaytee Hellcat is improving quickly and has enough early speed to play a part, while Teejays Bluehawk was a class act prior to his layoff and offers big odds punters an outside shout.
