Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers
Federico Farcomeni is on MLB tipping duty today as the New York Yankees visit the Detroit Tigers...
Ok, things haven't quite worked out for us here recently. But if you think that the AL's best offensive team (Yankees) has a .650 OPS, a mark that would have rated the worst in the major leagues this season, that NL starting pitchers are performing far worse than every NL team besides the Rockies, then maybe you could forgive us and we could learn something new in this game.
New York Yankees @ Detroit Tigers
This said, Yankees offense is a dented car, and the statistics just don't lie: Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson and Nick Swisher are a combined 12 for 107 so far in these series. Other five regulars are below .200. NYY's manager Joe Girardi (and last night even the Cardinals suffered from one of those umpire's calls) joined the Frank Lampard bandwagon and vibrantly asked for technology in baseball after the terrible miscall from the umpire that cost most of Game-2 to the Yankees (0-3). Truth is that the Bronx Bombers haven't been firing of late and this is possibly just an excuse.
At least they will have CC Sabathia back for Game-4 in Motown, but this is Game-3. On the mound for Detroit, here comes Justin Verlander (the reigning AL MVP) who even stroke out 14 back in August (7-2) at Comerica Park. With the exception of Jose Valverde, no Detroit pitcher has allowed an earned run since Game 3 of the division series against Oakland. With the unpredictability of these post-season games though, we just need to "keep it tight" and it's probably advisable to lay the Yankees at an enviable 2.89/5 rather than backing the Tigers currently trading at 1.564/7.
Recommended Bet
Lay New York Yankees @ 2.89/5
