It's A Dundeel will start as a short priced Derby favourite as he looks to become the first Sydney three-year-old Triple Crown winner since Octagonal achieved the treble in 1996. Against a number of the same rivals from that event, It's A Dundeel will be offering up a repeat dose.
The likes of Tulloch Stakes-winner Philippi and runner-up Hippopus bring a new element into the race but neither rate close to the master figure It's A Dundeel possesses.
The nine-race card at Randwick throws up a number of odds-on favourites with of course Black Caviar going around at a very short price.
The odds Black Caviar and It's A Dundeel will start at make the current price about Overreach in the Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) appear juicy.
Overreach was all class when taking out the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes seven days ago and the stable has reported the filly has come through the run very well. While untried at 1400m, Overreach rates clear on top in a field of less depth than the Slipper.
Whether the Gai Waterhouse-trained youngster is suited over the 1400m or not is unclear, although Overreach on ability alone should have the measure of this bunch.
The other juvenile race on the program is the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m). Currently the second favourite, Peter Snowden's colt Safeguard possesses plenty of appeal.
Safeguard resumes after a maiden preparation in Melbourne during the spring where he was a debut winner down the Flemington straight.
The Exceed And Excel colt ran very good figures on that occasion, good enough to result in Peter Snowden tipping the two-year-old out with a view towards the Golden Slipper.
A virus unfortunately derailed those plans but now resumes in what looks to be a very winnable first up assignment.
From the outside barrier, expect Safeguard to cross over and sit outside the lead. It should just be a case then of McEvoy allowing the colt to work through his gears in the straight en route to a maiden Group success.
