Monday's Race of The Day comes from Kempton
Timeform cast their eye over this useful mile handicap.
Fast Finian has done well on AW for this yard, winning 3 times in 2012. Fine efforts in defeat since latest success and another victory forthcoming soon. First go at 1m now.
Maverik won 3 times in 2012. Not handicapped out of things on first run for 3 months for in-form yard and has won fresh. Worth considering.
Askaud is on a long losing run and dropped in the weights. Good claims on a couple of her efforts in 2012, but yard only just getting going again after quiet spell and without a winner since October.
Lowther has got right back on track of late, winning 2 of last 3 starts in 1m AW handicaps, keeping on well from Stir Trader over C&D last time. Should go well once more.
Crew Cut put up fair efforts in defeat since winning sprint handicap at Bath last summer. Probably only just stays 7f so must be major doubts over him getting 1m in handicap like this.
Stir Trader has won 6f Wolverhampton maiden (blinkered) and 7f Lingfield handicap. Fine effort behind Lowther over C&D last time and not had much racing so very much one to consider.
Angelic Upstart won Wolverhampton handicap (8.6f) in August. Holding form well, not beaten far from poor position tried visored here on Saturday, and leading claims back under rider he's gone well for before.
Roy The Boy hasn't run a bad race since last summer's victory at Wolverhampton. Lightly raced at this trip and last couple of efforts (tried visored) represent solid form for the grade. One to consider.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Angelic Upstart
2. Roy The Boy
3. Stir Trader
Timeform view: Stir Trader may be set to reverse recent C&D form with the thriving Lowther, but Angelic Upstart's turn could be near again judged on Saturday's effort here and he's re-united with a 7 lb claimer under whom he ran a blinder here last September. Roy The Boy is another with solid claims.
